DAISY Winner Info: Danielle Suarez RN, CVIC , SEHC

My husband was a patient in CVIC on January 4,2010 following a surgical procedure – left carotid endarterectomy. He was VERY apprehensive due to having major surgery and recent permanent loss of vision in his left eye, due to a plaque embolus. She provided outstanding care because she took time to relate to my husband’s emotional needs by helping him to grieve over the loss of his vision and have hope for the future. She took the time to ask him about his hobbies and applauded his efforts to be independent. She never seemed irritated or inconvenienced when my husband asked numberous questions and spilled his water all over his bed linen. She built a repoire of trust, concern and encouragement, which led to my husband’s successful recovery. It was very apparent that she was an excellent clinician because of her astutue observation and high skill level; however, her willingness to connect with my husband at this level of emotional need made us feel very safe and valued. It was our priviledge to meet her and we appreciated her personal “God Bless” note with a happy face. I am very proud to know that she is a colleague RN employed at HMHP because she is exemplifying our mission and values, with her entire team. Many thanks
