Cortney provided outstanding support, patience, and professionalism to my aunt who was in severe pain, fearful of falling, and had lost quite a lot of blood. I observed how she paid close attention to her medical needs, especially when my aunt was in critical need of a blood transfusion. Cortney made her feel like she was her number one priority and my aunt even said, "she cares about my well-being." An example of this was when Cortney asked my aunt to identify her goals for the day, she would encourage and help her to accomplish them and my aunt was very proud of that. She was conscientious to make sure that the family was kept informed of her care and progress which brought assurance for us. Cortney truly provides exemplary nursing care which is a credit to her and the entire staff at MVH.

As a nurse myself, I was scared and nervous after receiving a call that my mother had sustained an arachnoid hemorrhage after a fall. When I arrived, I found the most compassionate, caring, calm, and knowledgeable nurse who answered ALL my questions which if you've ever cared for a patient with family members in healthcare, you know that it is a feat on its own. She took care of not only my mother but my aunts, dad, and myself. I was so comfortable with her competency and nursing skills that I left the unit to grab some food which says a lot. Cortney did exactly what I would tell new nurses who I precepted, "Treat every patient like they're a family member and you will never go wrong." As a nurse practitioner, I am grateful and am honored to call you a colleague.
