... when our daughter was born, she had a hard time keeping her O2 stats up and her respiratory rate was very high. The nurses, because of being very concerned for my daughter, rushed her to the nursery to get her on oxygen so I was only able to see her for a minute or two before she was taken. While this was obviously the correct thing to do, it was very hard on me because my daughter was just born but I was not able to hold her or kiss her. That is every mother's worst nightmare. After about 7 hours I was nothing if not distraught. Our new daughter was doing much better but was not quite ready to be released from the nursery and I was having a very hard time with the anesthesia so even getting into a wheelchair to go see her was not possible. Connie, being wonderful as she is, put her on a portable O2 sensor and brought her down to see me. It was only for about five minutes, but that five minutes meant the world to me. She will never know how much better that one act made me feel and there is no way I'll ever be able to tell her how great she is.
