Thank you, Colleen. I cannot find the correct words to express my gratitude to you. My first night here I was adamant about not getting the pacemaker-defibrillator and I was ready to stand my ground with the doctors, until our conversation that night.
You gave me a very realistic talk about my health, my future and the longevity of my life. Your words were stern and direct but caring and concerning at the same time. You helped me put things into perspective and to understand how important this decision was but more importantly, you made me see that this was about my kids.
That night I laid in bed replaying our conversation in my head and as I sat there and cried, I kept hearing your words "do this for your kids", that's when I knew I had to do this. I had to do this for my kids. I had to live for them and make sure I do everything I can to be here for them.
You helped me realize that and because of that, I thank you. Even as I sit here now writing to you, I'm filling up with tears of happiness and joy. I finally have the courage to face my fears and overcome them. Thank you, Colleen, for saving my life and for being the voice I needed.
