Our father was treated and passed away in your ICU in January. I just want to take the time to tell you what a special group of nurses you have.
Colleen Young is a young nurse well beyond her years in her craft. I am also a nurse, so I am more than grateful for the love and compassion she showed my family. My dad was cancer free when he died. He died of complications from the surgery. We weren't expecting him to go. Colleen took care of him on the last day. She treated him with dignity and respect. She kept him clean and dry. She kept him pain-free. She discussed each thing she was doing with all of us so we could understand. She was precepting a student that day, as well.
When we decided to let go, Colleen respected all of our wishes. She was kind to my mom. She let us take the time we needed. She made his death as easy as possible for my dad as well as us. She spoke to him. She stayed that night with us, past her shift until my father passed. We will never forget her kindness, and compassion as well as her skill. My dad called her his Irish princess. I call her our Irish angel.
