I just wanted to drop a note to say what a great job Clint did.
Clint was in charge. They brought back a 72 year old male complaining of chest pain and back pain. As soon as the patient was brought back several tests were ordered and the patient was sent to CT for possible dissection. If I recall correctly the CT showed an abdominal aneurysm. As everyone was moving about doing what needed to be done for this patient, like getting him ready to go directly to surgery, people starting asking if the wife and grandson would be able to come back. Several people said not right now (or something to that effect) and Clinton overhead this. He went ahead and said that it would be ok for them to come back for a few minutes while they continue to get the patient ready for surgery. I was touched by the fact that Clint stepped in and allowed the wife and grandson to see the patient. The grandson was very happy that he was getting to see grandpa as was the wife. The patient just kept telling the grandson that he would see him soon and that he was ok. When the wife and grandson were out of ears way and the patient was being wheeled out of the room he started to say how much it hurt. As it turns out the patient did not make it out of surgery. It still brings a tear to my eye to say kudos to Clint, for the fact that he allowed the wife and grandson into the room. That was the last time they saw him speak.
I spoke to Clint and told him how proud I was to have him as a caring co-worker and how he touched my heart that day. I am sure that the wife and grandson would feel the same way if asked.
I just wanted to let you know that it was great to see Clint take charge of the situation and maybe make a difference in someone’s life. It sure did mine.
