I was involved in a car accident in June; 10 days after I was admitted here to Eskenazi and transferred from the ward to IICU hours later, and prior to going to surgery for a bowel obstruction. There were several nurses that took care of me during my long stay in IICU, all of whom were great, but Cleo stood out, she was there all the time, it seemed like she knew I needed her before I even called for help, I felt like I was her only patient. Never did she rush through care, she took her time, explained everything she did or was going to do, I never had to wait when I needed assistance, when I had questions or complications she was there to help, and even called the doctor right there on the spot several times to help my complications/complaints.

She was not aware that I was a nurse until towards the end of my stay. Cleo informed me about the openings here at Eskenazi, told me all about working here and as a result, I put in an application, and am very proud to say that I have returned home, to Eskenazi (formerly a Wishard employee) to work as an RN on the AA Unit. I nominate Cleo Bilal because she inspired me to want to come here and make a difference however large or small. Cleo made what was a horrible experience tolerable and for that, I am forever and ever thankful. Thank you Cleo from the bottom of my heart, you were my Angel, when I needed one the most.
