My husband, Robert, was admitted to ICU on July 30, 2008 after bowel blockage surgery on July 29, 2008. After arriving in ICU, he had a cardiac/pulmonary-induced arrest and was a patient in ICU until Aug 11 when he was transferred to 4G with palliative/Hospice care. There were many outstanding RNs taking care of Bob during this stay, but one stood out above all the rest. From the very first night she had him, she took such kind care of him, just as if he was awake, conversing back to her and could have been her own father or brother. All of our families members many questions were explained in our language and with extra compassion and concern. She memorized every family member's name and greeted each by name. She let me call through the night to check on Bob.

Clarrissa was very efficient, all around #1. I worked at SJMO many years in the 70's-80's when we had the SJMH Mercy Values and Awards. Also Bob, has had many admissions and surgeries since 1995-all this to say I have been around many nurses and none have impressed me over and over through daily care as she did.

Clarissa is such a gentle caring person. As soon as she saw us she would come to say hello and ask if we had questions or needs. Clarissa showed compassion in her care of our friend and for us. She always asked if we saw any changes in our friend. We were at ease when she was on duty. We were never made to feel we were in her way. She took the time to listen to what we had to say. I know our friend's wife rested better knowing she was the one with her husband. Clarissa Diaz has already won OUR Daisy Award.
