Cindy was one of many amazing nurses caring for my 94-year-old mother. All of the nurses were wonderful, but she shined above the rest. Cindy was one of the most caring, dedicated, and compassionate ladies I have ever seen. She treated my mom as if she was her own and mom responded as if she had known Cindy forever. She worked relentlessly all night long and like clockwork, in 12 hours she was back doing it all over again: changing bed covers and checking to be sure my mom was comfortable, dry, and clean. All with a smile and a giggle. Cindy goes above and beyond to be sure everything is in perfect order before she leaves her 12-hour shift. This includes staying 4 hours over her shift when my mom had a frightening breathing episode at the end of her shift. She was also the only one who could get her to open wide and take her pills when she refused to eat.
Cindy made my family feel at home and answered every question with patience, kindness. and knowledgeable experience. She did not make us feel as if we were in the way, but made sure we had whatever we needed. We could tell what a perfectionist she is just by watching her with the nursing staff. She worked alongside the staff tirelessly so she was aware of any problems. Cindy will be sorely missed when she retires, by coworkers, friends, doctors, patients and their families. With an enormous heart, Cindy exemplifies what a Sentara MJH nurse should strive to be.
