Chrystina received two separate nominations for the DAISY Award by the parents of two patients (excerpts):

"Chrystina gave us piece of mind. She was very attentive to everyone involved. She was very caring to our daughter and passionate about her job. She went above and beyond expectations."

"My son needed a very painful surgery and was admitted. Chrystina was wonderful. She was very soft-spoken and loving. She checked in on us all the time asking him how he was and if we, his parents, needed anything. Chrystina made what could have been an awful and traumatic experience into an opportunity for our son to see that beautiful side of a calm and caring nurse.

I think Chrystina is extraordinary because although she didn't commit one extraordinary act, she showed so much extraordinary compassion. I think a lot of what makes a nurse truly great is their ability to love and show compassion and encouragement. Anybody is capable of learning clinical skills but not all have the gift of compassion and love. You can see that this isn't just a job to her. This is what she was called to do. She always told us what she was doing and why and really made us feel we were a big part of our son's care even though we never had any medical training.

Your facility is blessed to have such a wonderful, loving caring and compassionate nurse like Chrystina, and she is a hero to us and someone I will never forget."
