During a very long and emotional time in our life, my sister was in your SICU after having heart surgery. What started out to be a routine heart surgery for her, soon became a very critical event, and she was unable to come off of life support. Your SICU staff was wonderful at keeping me and my nephew informed about the daily ins/outs of my sister's status and explained in detail what they were doing. During the very long two weeks, we spent a lot of time in the ICU with her and oftentimes never left her bedside. She had many machines and pumps and a dialysis machine hooked to her for almost two weeks. She was very sick.
I know I told you more than once during your visits that your nurses are very knowledgeable people, but one stood out each time. Your seasoned nurse, Christine, took care of my sister on more than one occasion. I am so appreciative of the care that my sister received and what Christine meant to me personally. She is such a special nurse. She was compassionate, funny, understanding, and she is actually someone I would want as a friend or even someone I would like to be like. On the day that we decided to terminate care on my sister, we wanted things to take place quickly and not allow her to suffer. Christine promised us that she would get the process expedited, and that is exactly what she did. She contacted the doctor and then the hospice agency and they were there within 30 minutes. She stayed right with us during my sister's passing and was so kind to me and my family. I just wanted to let you know that she made such a tragic time bearable, and we are thankful for her. Please forward our thanks to her.
