Christina Jolley is a phenomenal staff nurse. She has a great rapport with her patients and their families. She has wonderful assessment skills and addresses her patients' needs quickly. She takes all complaints seriously, big or small. When a patient's family member has a question, Christina takes the time to address them personally. She not only answers the question but also explains the reasoning behind our processes. She also takes the next step by problem-solving with the patient and family so that not only are their needs met, but our guidelines are also met.
I recently witnessed Christina going through a patient's belongings with a mother because the mother wanted her to have a specific pair of pants. They had strings in them. She explained why the patients couldn't have clothes with strings, which the mother was able to understand. She asked if the strings could be removed so that the patient could wear them. The mother agreed and was happy with the interaction.
We have had many complaints about belongings, but this kind of positive interaction helped prevent a misunderstanding and solved the issue. Christina's documentation paints a clear picture of the problem and steps taken to rectify. She is always happy to help and has been a strong charge nurse and preceptor for several years. She has shown great leadership to her fellow nurses and milieu staff.
One night a nurse was in a car accident on her way to work and Christina heard about it, called the unit to see if she could help, and came in on her day off to work for that nurse. It was an amazing act of kindness to that nurse and to the unit. When Christina is working, I know the patients are in good hands.
