My nurse Christina went out of her way in many ways for instance, my son's IV had become bothersome to the baby, she called and they instructed her to continue to use it. She knew it was bothersome to my baby and she was right there and requested them to remove it. Two minutes later it blew and she showed my son compassion by messaging his arm and rocking him while the IV was replaced. Had the staff listened to her, my son wouldn't have been so uncomfortable.
I was unsure about my son going home on a feeding tube. She explained I would rather have him at home than to remain in the hospital at risk for other illnesses.
By rubbing his arm and rocking him to sleep after I received Chemotherapy. I was weak and tired. She took time to care for him and show him love and nurturing while I was unable to.
Christina always asked me how I felt his progress was before she would make notes in his chart. She valued my feelings about my child's needs and his improvement. Christina is the type of nurse who made a bad situation better by being understanding, caring, and willing to stand up for my baby even when I couldn't. I truly feel she deserves to be honored and there is no other nurse whom I want caring for my child.
