Christie was exceptional when I was in labor, her compassionate care really stood out because she went above and beyond. My admission to the labor and delivery unit was unplanned and I was admitted earlier than my original due date. Christie helped me keep comfortable, explained everything and helped me be at ease. She made sure my labor went smoothly and provided interventions to prevent complications such as decelerations in my baby's heart rate. She never left my side and kept a close watch when my blood pressure would drop. She is one of the most caring women I have encountered as a patient. I felt really cared for because she was always in the room making sure everything went well and helping me through my pain. I was very nervous, but she always remained calm and made sure I was well taken care of in terms of decreasing my risk of infection, decreasing my pain, positioning interventions to prevent cord compressions, and an endless list of compassionate care. Her positive demeanor really brightened the room and she had a very polite bedside manner.
I felt truly comfortable in her care and trusted everything she did. I felt a strong connection with her because of the exceptional care she provided by answering all the questions I had as a first-time mom and being at my side the entire time. I must say, because of Christie, my labor and delivery experience was a positive one. She made my birthing experience the best it could be and I left with a smile and a good feeling in my heart. My husband and I were able to speak about our experience with other family members. We will never forget the wonderful care we received from our nurse, Christie. Her care, critical thinking when problems arose, patient teaching and leadership skills were like no other.
