During my leadership rounds, it became evident what an extraordinary nurse, Christabel was.
Sixteen patients were touched by her compassionate personality and bedside manner during her twelve-hour night shift, and she was the primary nurse for six. She attended to a patient who she was not primarily assigned to but noticed her teammate needed assistance. This patient suffered cognitive impairments, increased anxiety, and a poor appetite. She was able to take the time to provide holistic, therapeutic care resulting in the ability for the patient to relax and completely consume a meal. The patient's daughter felt this was a remarkable occurrence, especially because her mom did not respond to anyone else.
Christabel's behavior as a competent and professional nurse demonstrates the embodiment of team nursing at St. Francis. She is an asset to have modeling this behavior.
