A patient presented to the Registration area with multiple wounds/cuts up and down his arms. While registering, the patient reached into the Registration window, grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed himself in the arm. The registration staff pressed the panic button and began to try and help the patient. The patient was very agitated and refused any help. Chris responded to the panic alarm very promptly even thought he was working in another area. He began to speak to the patient in a very calm, collected and reassuring manner. He was able to get the patient into the ER area for treatment. Staff on duty had nothing but praise for Chris and has commented on how glad they are that he was working that night. Chris is a wonderful nurse and is always more than willing to assist in all areas. He is very deserving of the DAISY Award as he demonstrates excellence, compassion, and outstanding clinical skills everyday!
