I would like to nominate Chris Fasolas RN from the Radiology Department as a deserving recipient of The DAISY Award. This nurse's clinical skill and especially his compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model.

I am writing this on behalf of my Aunt M who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. Aunt M started chemo treatment earlier this summer. At the start of her treatment, a port-a-cath was inserted for access for her treatments. Unfortunately, the PAC is extremely painful and difficult to access. Most RNs and MDs have had a difficult time establishing access which brings me to Chris. Chris is the only nurse who is able to access her port in one try with minimal pain, but this is not the reason why I am writing this letter. Chris has made my aunt and uncle feel so welcomed and comfortable, and more importantly, less fearful.

This is not Chris's job. He does not have to access this port every week for her, but he does. He makes room in his very busy schedule each week to check on her and access her port. He has told them he would come in on his day off to access the port if others could not. He has gone above and beyond and I truly have no words to express how grateful we are to him. My aunt and uncle's experience is more pleasant when Chris is around.

I know Aunt M would say so many more words of gratitude than what I can express here. This nomination is coming from her, written by me only due to the circumstances. I hope you choose Chris for this award because it's not only his clinical skill that should be rewarded but his caring and compassionate manner in which he treats this patients who he otherwise has no contact with.
