Recently my Sister-in-Law was at UPMC Northwest to have a D&C for a miscarriage. She could not say anything but good about her procedure and about the department as a whole. However, one nurse stood out to her during her stay. To quote her exact words, "she was the most kind, caring and compassionate nurse I have ever had." They actually approached me asking if there were any awards she could be nominated for. Obviously finding out you are pregnant and then losing the child due to miscarriage is a traumatic experience, as they were very excited to have another child. I truly believe Chris helped my sister-in-law and brother through this experience while at UPMC Northwest. After discharge, Chris sent a sympathy card to them. This touched them deeply. I feel that experiences and actions like these go above and beyond the call of duty and are what makes a nurse an extraordinary nurse. A recent quote I came across from Val Saintsbury states, "Nurses dispense comfort, compassion, and caring even without a prescription." I feel this describes my brother and Sister-in-Law's experience with Chris.
