I am a 49-year-old patient with terminal pancreatic cancer. Although my family knew my diagnosis early on, they kept the bad news from me, thinking it would make me lose hope and no longer fight for my health. However, I soon figured it out. I just did not expect death so early. Life is too short!
I have been a patient on 2-10F General Surgery Unit for more than three months. I believe this is the end of my life. At first, I went through a period of denial, but now I am at peace with this. I feel at ease right now, especially with the services provided by the healthcare staff here. I can call each nurse by their name as they all take care of me professionally and nicely.
Cheng Zhaofei is the nurse who impresses me the most. She is one of the nurses on night shift. She always says hi to me and tells me to ring the bell whenever I need her. As days go by, I find she is such a gentle and kind girl. She is always there for me. When I was in pain, she held my hands in hers. When I had a fever, she took my temperature from time to time. When I felt sick and vomited, she was the one who handed me tissues. Sometimes I feel as if she is my daughter.
One day, my feeding tube became blocked which made me so nervous. When Cheng Zhaofei came, she calmed me until I felt relaxed and sleepy. At the same time, she worked on flushing the tube and after several hours she cleared it! At that time, we smiled at each other and I felt so warm!
Thank you, Cheng Zhaofei, for bringing me hope and calmness!
