Our newborn was brought to the NICU the day after she was born. I was a postpartum mess of emotions after learning she had to be admitted. Chelsea was the first nurse we encountered and she was absolutely lovely. She was incredibly kind and caring. She took care of our baby girl throughout the night and was such a joy to be around. One of the times we were visiting, she received a phone call that sounded like it was from the lab. We overheard her sticking up for our baby telling them they did not need to draw our baby again for more blood, that the patient was a baby. This is exactly the kind of patient advocacy you want from a nurse. She knew exactly what they wanted and what was appropriate versus not for a newborn. I knew our daughter was in the best hands and I was so appreciative of her ability to be the kindest person in the world and still stand strong for a patient who has no way of doing so for herself.
Chelsea was so gentle and patient with our baby and exhibited the exact qualities you want to see in a nurse, especially when it's your 2-day old baby. Chelsea was a great communicator and was so understanding and extremely patient with me and my husband when we would call at night for information about our daughter. She is a lovely person and someone we feel so lucky to have taken care of our baby. Thank you so much for doing so. You are an angel of a nurse.
