Chelsea managed to bring some light to her patient and even staff that managed to witness this moment.
As a fellow staff member working through this pandemic, it is easy to forget in providing a REAL boost in morale to our patients. Being understaffed and trying to keep patients stable enough to avoid further evasive intervention - it's exhausting not only physically but mentally. This pandemic has been a true test for all hospital staff.
Chelsea has always been a nurse who has managed to help keep patients and fellow staffers upbeat (and we love her for that) even before this pandemic showed up uninvitedly. What's more admiring is how she managed to go further - pushing the envelope rather - in boosting the morale of a patient.
Whilst managing a heavy COVID assignment of four patients for 12 hours, she managed to help arrange the meeting of her patient with her children. It was beautiful to witness the patient's children holding signs outside the patient's window that stated, "We love you, Mom." Seeing the reaction of the patient was emotional, especially since it was a surprise to the patient. This moment is evidence of how REAL this pandemic is and its nastiness, but despite this truth, Chelsea managed to bring some light to her patient and even staff that managed to witness this moment.
Keep shining your light, Chelsea, and thank you for being such an exemplary nurse!

Note: This is Chelsea's 2nd DAISY Award!
