You have a hero on your staff. I am sure you're told that quite often with the type of work that your hospital does each day, but this hero was in a unique situation.

... I was on a United Flight from Omaha to Denver when a man two rows ahead of me had a seizure. Someone yelled about a medical emergency and a woman sitting in the same row on the opposite side of the aisle stood up, said "I'm a nurse" and totally took over the situation.

Very long story short, the man had 3 seizures before we landed in Denver and when the paramedics boarded our plane, the patient had oxygen, an IV of saline, and his nerves (and the rest of ours) calmed by the nurse. Between his episodes, he was lucid and conversational and it was through this conversation that we learned that our nurse angel was Chantal Franklin who works at Children's Hospital.

Chantal never wavered in her decision making or her control of the situation. It was obvious that the flight attendants had put their complete confidence in her as they did everything she told them to do. Meanwhile, the full airplane cabin remained calm because Chantal remained calm. To say that I am impressed is an understatement.

The events of that flight have affected me in a very positive way through the actions of Chantal. You are extremely fortunate to have her as a member of your staff (and I think she deserves and extra vacation day since she had to "work" on her flight)!

Sincerely,

United Passenger, Seat 25A
