Cathy Loy, RNC, has worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse at St. Luke's since 1984. She has been a preceptor to many of our new associates over the years. She is an excellent mentor and great resource to other team members. Cathy works in the charge nurse role, tour role, and scrub role.

Cathy has a very generous, giving spirit. She leads our grief committee and has been a grief listener to many patients and families following the loss of an infant. Cathy assisted in organizing photographers in the community to be on-call' for demise births. The photographers are called to take photos of the baby and the photos are placed in a special memorial keepsake.

Cathy volunteers her time every year on medical mission trips to Honduras. She recently facilitated the donation of extra labor beds and fetal monitoring equipment to be transported to Honduras for use in the villages. Her work was spotlighted in the Gazette on June 12, 2013. Cathy was quoted as saying "This is a way to provide care to people less fortunate. You don't have to be within St. Luke's organization to experience our mission. Their life is so very hard. They walk everywhere..They're so thrilled and so very patient. They'll sit all day." She laughingly said, "We get cranky if we have to wait 15 minutes."

Cathy is continually striving to improve health outcomes for the poor and under served in our community as well. Cathy speaks fluent Spanish and is able to translate for our Spanish speaking patients until a translator is available.

Most recently, Cathy has taken on a special project where she worked with the Safe Sleep Task Force'. This committee received 2 grants for HALO sleep sacks for parents to take home. Cathy has spent numerous hours and tremendous energy ensuring each patient who has delivered at St. Luke's has received one of these Halo sleep sacks.
