DAISY of the MONTH
Cathy Buzbee - RNP – Staff Education
Here is what fellow employee Lenore A. had to say about Cathy: “In my work as a MIRT social worker, I recently found myself in over my head. One of our Hispanic patients from Northwest, Arkansas, speaking limited English, had neglected to pack her diabetic supplies and was going to be away from home for several days. Cathy Buzbee read my generic e-mail, asking for assistance with the patient’s circumstances, and came to the rescue. She brought a glucometer, at no charge, and instructed the patient on its proper use right there in my office, making certain that the patient was able to manage her own care. You can imagine my surprise, delight, and appreciation when this wonderful nurse knocked on my door, all smiles, with exactly what our patient needed. Our diabetic nurses were unavailable due to their patient appointments and I had no idea how to help our patient with this need, and neither did the MIRT nursing staff. Others might have just let my desperate e-mail plea pass on by, but Cathy came to the rescue.”
