My father was admitted to the ICU and passed away the next day. We had two spectacular nurses that I wanted to let you know about because they made our very painful experience something more bearable. The first day we had Kelsey, and the second day we had Cassie Tischer, both on the night shift.
They were both so compassionate, so willing to listen and help when we had concerns or when my dad was having discomfort or other issues going on. Although Kelsey was not our nurse on the second night, she was still in our quad and came in to say hello and check on us. She was there for a hug after my father passed, and just offered such a sense of comfort.
Cassie was there in my father's last hours, and I will forever remember and be grateful for the compassion and care she provided my dad and our family in those final moments. She was so attentive and caring it felt like having a family member there to provide them medical support for my dad.
I honestly still don't have enough words to describe how much our family appreciated these women and the care they provided to our dad and our family during the most difficult time of our lives. You have two gems there and I hope you pass this along to them and anyone above you that can offer further recognition.
I work in a lot of hospitals, with a lot of medical staff. I see some amazing people doing great things to help patients, but I have not had to experience it at this level before. Please, recognize these women in whatever way you can. I know their job is not easy, and that it is hard for them to lose a patient, too, even if they only had them for a few hours. They were/are so appreciated, and I want them to know they made a difference to my dad and my family.

Cassie Tischer was my father's nurse in the ICU on the night he passed away. Cassie was up to speed quickly on my father's condition, wishes, and ensuring that he remained comfortable. She was immediately caring, compassionate and endearing. Like the nurse the night before, it felt as if we had a close family member there caring for my father. She also provided me with the courage and confidence it took to call my other family when it became clear that my father would soon pass. I was so scared but found comfort in Cassie's presence, and confidence in knowing my father was not in pain or suffering. I will be eternally grateful for Cassie's compassion, caring and expertise in the worse difficult time in my family's life.
