We're proud to announce that the first honoree for Cascade Valley Hospital DAISY Award is Carol Falkner, RN! Carol, who serves as a nursing coordinator, was nominated by her peers for going above and beyond in her job. "Carol goes out of her way to help the staff," says Nancy Wahl, one of Carol's nominators, " she assists to make the whole plan of care go smoothly."

During this morning's ceremony, Carol was given a certificate and statue, made especially for the DAISY Foundation by craftsman in Zimbabwe. Presenter Michelle Sand, Assistant Administrator of Patient Care Services (pictured here with Carol and Arlene Englebright, Director of Acute and Critical Care Services), shared how the DAISY Foundation is present in seven countries around the globe, and their mission effects even the poorest parts of the African country.

Following the presentation, staff were invited to stay for Cinnabon cinnamon rolls, which is a DAISY tradition.

We'd like to congratulate Carol on her award, and thank her for being an outstanding ambassador of Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics. By being "a supportive, knowledgeable, assertive and consistently thoughtful" team player, as Barb Christopher noted in her nomination, she truly exemplifies the spirit of the DAISY Award.
