A patient, who has severe Cerebral Palsy, graduated to the "adult world" from Riley Children's Hospital at IU Health. He was admitted to University Hospital for pancreatitis, and during his stay on another unit, had a grand mal seizure and was rapid-responsed to SPCU. The incident was very scary for his parents and they had a very uneasy feeling about his outcome and care until they met Carly, their admitting PCU nurse. The mother, in a conversation with Stephanie Harmon RN, BSN, Charge Nurse, said she felt rescued and immediately gained trust back in the "adult world" because of Carly's amazing qualities. Carly was the most trusting, sweet, reassuring, prompt and engaged nurse they have met in all the 29 years they have been parents of a total care patient. At the end of the conversation, the mother stated: "This hospital should be honored to have her on their team."
