I was hospitalized due to reoccurring major depression/anxiety/PTSD due to the events surrounding the death of my daughter. I lost all hope of ever feeling happy again. Carla actually saved me from wanting to go to sleep and never wake up. I got back the hope I so desperately needed because of Carla. She always knew which patient needed her the most and went to that person first on her rounds. She made me feel like she really did care what happened to me and always remembered everything I said. She was interested in my life and what I had to say. I always said care givers should have to experience depression in order to be good at treating it. I feel Carla was one of the few that understood it and had compassion. Carla didn't just rush through the daily questions. She made sure when all was said and done she knew exactly how I was feeling and what I needed from her.
One day I needed my medication, but it was late coming up from the pharmacy so Carla actually went down there and got it for me. I'm sure her charting is a great help to the doctors, she's very thorough. She's well educated in mental health and knows the things you can't be taught. She's one of the special people that just know those things. I was never rushed. She stayed with me until she was sure I was okay. Carla even talked to my doctor for me and got her to understand me better. Carla always gave 200 percent every day! There was always a smile on her face when you met her in the hall. She always went above and beyond for all her patients and was everybody's favorite nurse.
