Carla Favata has received an amazing 5 DAISY nominations from staff and families! One nomination came from one of her orientees who noted such compassion in Carla's care that she was compelled to share her story.

"Carla is an incredible nurse. She precepted me on the unit and I learned so much from working with her. If ever I had a question she was unsure about, she would say 'that's a great question, let's look up the policy'. Truly!. Recognizing that a mom had not eaten all day, she went above and beyond to design ways to better meet the needs of this Spanish-speaking family. With a translator and the mom, she created some resources so that all nurses would be able to provide effective care. The mother started crying and thanked her for her help. Carla takes time, even on the busiest days, to make sure her patients and families are fully taken care with excellence, intelligence and compassion. I can think of no one more deserving of the DAISY Award than Carla."

A parent stated: "Carla is simply one of the kindest people I've ever met. She is an amazing nurse and always took care of us and our needs in a timely manner."

Another staff member said: "Carla delivers excellent service to her patients, going so far as singing the PBJ song to get a patient to eat his PBJ sandwich. I think she makes significant differences in the lives of her patients and their families."

Carla's manager states: "Carla is a valuable and outstanding asset to our unit. In addition to being clinically sound, Carla displays an infectious smile and positivity while she cares for her patients and families. She is a caring advocate that is ready at a moment's notice to help a colleague or patient. She is a champion for patient and family satisfaction playing a lead role in implementing unit initiatives to better meet patient/family needs. She epitomizes the team based approach on our unit. We are very fortunate that Carla is on our team."
