It was shift change and Candis had just come on. My wife's epidural had not taken properly. We buzzed for a nurse every 3 minutes and were told the anesthesiologist was on the way.
Things were chaotic, my wife was suffering, and we both felt helpless. Candis Taylor comes on and she sees the pain we are in. She tracks down an anesthesiologist. The epidural unfortunately still did not take, and our situation did not change. Candis stayed in the room with us for the duration providing comfort. During this time, my wife informed Candis she thought the baby was coming. Within a 10-minute span, Candis checked for dilation 3 times. I know this is excessive, but Candis did it anyway. Within a 2-minute span, my wife went from 7cm to baby coming! Had Candis brushed her off we might not have made it to the delivery room in time as 45 seconds was all it took for our baby to arrive once the pushing happened. I'm not sure if it was Candis' job or not, but she rapidly got us to the delivery room, called our doctor, and helped bring our bundle of joy into this world. Our experience with Candis was exceptional. She has been caring, accommodating, detailed, knowledgeable, and attentive. I know these are the traits of most nurses, and these traits are true of RNs at Providence Hospital, but Candis Taylor went above and beyond to make my family feel important! We live 45 min away and chose to deliver here because Providence Hospital has made us feel important from the start.
