Candace deserves the DAISY Award without a doubt. She had been incredibly supportive and caring throughout my stay but one situation really stands out. On the day of an invasive procedure, the time of my procedure was moved up. I was very scared and wanted to be able to see my mom before it happened. (I go to Marquette but I am from Chicago so it takes a few hours for family to get here.) When the doctors came in to prepare me for the procedure, I realized I wouldn't be able to see my mom before, as they moved up the time. I became extremely emotional and couldn't stop crying and was too intimidated to ask to move the procedure back. Not only did Candace comfort me, hug me and pray with me, she advocated on my behalf and was able to move my procedure so I could see my mom. I can't tell you how much Candace's actions meant to me that day. She truly touched me and made my family more comfortable having me hospitalized in another state. Candace is so incredible and made a big difference in my experience here.
