Caitlin is a unit coordinator on IMCU. She is an excellent resource and support for her nurses, care partners, physicians, patients, and visitors. She is calm during critical situations and always clearly thinks through every situation. I am extremely proud of her work on our unit. I would like to describe one event which clearly showed her compassionate side. It was the beginning of her shift and she received report that one of her patients was actively dying and all alone. She was a stand-alone charge that day and went in the room, sat next to his bed and held his hand. I took her phone at this moment and she proceeded to sit with him, talk with him, and just be with him during his final hour. When he had passed, she looked at me with tears in her eyes and said she just couldn't let him die alone. It was a selfless act that showed just how much she truly cares about her patients.
