Brittany Loya is an extraordinary nurse on 5SA and a strong preceptor. She is supportive, approachable, and maintains high expectations. She has been a CTICU nurse at several hospitals and, therefore, has a depth of knowledge that she is able to share effectively. Brittany has a good sense of when to step away and when to get more involved. Her orientees trust her and feel comfortable asking questions and asking for help. Below is from a note about her care of a recent patient from a family member:
"My dad had an LVAD pump put into his heart and had already had an extended stay, so nerves were already high. The day after his surgery, we were greeted by Brittany, who made us feel way more at ease. My dad was unconscious for multiple days after his surgery, and Brittany put our worried minds to rest, reminding us that this wasn't a setback. My dad would wake up randomly out of sedation, and whenever he would, Brittany was right by his side assuring him he was going to be okay. Brittany's caring and relaxed spirit calmed our nerves. I'm super sad my dad never got to meet her, as they would've gotten along great, but my mom and I were so grateful for her extraordinary care."
