Britnay Canizales cared for our daughter like she was family. She always made sure our daughter was happy and comfortable. Britnay also was a huge advocate for us and our daughter, making sure the doctors and charge nurses always knew our concerns. Every shift change was not just about the facts, but about the positives of the day and getting us involved.
The highlight of our journey with Britnay was when I watched her lift my wife up when she was completely defeated. During an exceptionally rough day, my wife felt defeated and felt like a horrible mom and without prompting, Britnay crouched down next to my wife and encouraged her. This meant the world to my wife and me and proved that Britnay not only cares about the well being of the babies in the NICU but also the families. If we ever have to be in this situation again I hope we are lucky enough to have Britnay as our nurse.
