As a former patient of yours, I am writing to thank you for the comforting care you provided me with during my stay at the hospital. Not only did you take meticulous effort to ensure that I would be okay throughout all steps of my initial recovery process, but you also treated me like a friend, making yourself available to talk to me whenever you had the time. For this, I could not be more grateful. Spending the first couple of days after surgery in the NSCU can be daunting, but I found that you were easily able to empathize with how I was feeling. This is an ability that not too many individuals have, but one that I feel is most needed for your profession. You are a gifted nurse, and I respected everything about who you are and what you do.
One moment I take to heart is when you removed the bandages from the left side of my head and the IVs from my arms. I really appreciated how gentle you were in your process, asking considerately whether pulling on one portion of the area hurt more than another engaged in genuine and enthusiastic conversation that helped distract me from the rather depressing situation I was in. If I were to ever need care in the NSCU unit again (cross my fingers that I won't), I would request you right away. And I'm sure all of your other patients agree.
Thank you so much for everything. It was great to be under your care. I'm no professional but perhaps signing the letter would add a little emphasis to how I feel.
