One day in November I was discharged from the hospital and readmitted 6 hours later. My blood pressures were getting higher as I had previously been diagnosed with gestational hypertension. Bri was my nurse when I got readmitted. The doctor came in talking about adjusting my blood pressure medication. Bri asked to talk to the doctor and informed her that the doctor missed a very important lab that diagnosed me with severe preeclampsia.
I am unsure what would have happened to me if I didn't have such a thorough nurse. She just might have saved my life as well as my child's. Not only did Bri catch that critical lab, but she also advocated for me throughout my stay. I informed her how uncomfortable I was to have that doctor care for me and my unborn child. She found a way to get a different doctor for me.
I was so scared when I found out I would deliver six weeks early but felt so safe knowing I had such a great nurse. She showed all the traits that IU says they stand for. I am a nurse myself and now have another nurse I look up to. The next day I delivered a very healthy little boy and when I look at him, I think of Bri a lot, because she might have saved both of us!
I cannot thank Bri enough. She truly was and is the "perfect nurse". There is no one more deserving to be recognized than Bri. Thank you so much!
