Brianna's story came to us from a patient-who also is a fellow Healer.

Bree took a message from me. I was having pain and thought it might be pneumonia. I wanted to see if my doctor would order a chest xray. Since I was at another Arnett facility at the time, I thought maybe I could stop at the pharmacy if needed on my way home.

Bree explained that my doctor was off on this day and the other physicians were with patients. She advised me to go to the ED, because of my family history of heart problems and blood issues. I had just seen my doctor the week before for yearly checkup and cold. I told her I was not going to the ED because I had this cold for 3 weeks and knew it was probably from coughing or pneumonia.

So, bless her heart, she left a note for the doctor about our conversation. The doctor was kind enough to see me the next day and provided what I needed. Thank you Bree for leaving the note!

My husband has several health issues and is not to be around anyone sick. I was so afraid he was going to catch my cold. It was a bad cold. I appreciate the doctor and Bree for being so kind and taking time to see me. They truly know patient care. God Bless you both.

Our Professional Practice Model is Relationship Centered Care.

Brianna's nursing practice is consistent with our Professional Practice Model and Nursing Values in several ways.

Value of Mindfulness-Brianna sustained continuous attention to her patient, without any overlay of bias or judgment. She met the patient where she was; and found a way to assure she received care. She knew the patient was concerned about passing an illness to her husband-even though that was not shared. She showed no judgment or bias when the patient declined to follow her advice to go to ED. She did not give up. She continued to navigate through the options to assure care was provided.

Value of Trust-Brianna developed a trusting relationship with her patient-one that will lead to open and honest communication, and overall, improved outcomes for the patient.

Value of Communication-Brianna "owned" the communication and information-and she followed through with her accountability to assure the physician got involved so care could be provided.

Thank you Brianna-for what you do each day, each shift, for each patient.
