ERs can be unpredictable and chaotic at times. An ER nurse who knows how to handle the chaos and un-predictableness is a great ER nurse. on this day in May Bri Holt found herself in one of the scariest situations that an ER nurse can be in. A mother with a young child around the age of one came bursting through the ER doors in a panic screaming my child is not breathing. Bri, 8 1/2 months pregnant, immediately grabbed the child checked for a pulse, did not feel one and began compressions while holding this child at the nurse's station (0n her 8 1/2 month belly). At this moment the chaotic ER stopped and all became silent, all the trauma rooms were full so Bri continued to do compression standing at the charge nurse station while the charge worked on a room. The quick thinking and heroic actions by Bri most likely saved this child's life. She is the prime example of what a true ER nurse is and our department is lucky to have her as a part of our team.
