Bretton was my attending nurse two of the three nights of my stay, working the "overnight shift" 7 pm to 7:30 am. When I arrived on the floor Saturday after many hours in the ED, he was quick to assess my condition and review the plan to help me feel better as well as assure my family I was in good hands. Bretton continued to check on me throughout the night, I felt as if I was his only patient even though I was not. The one night he was not my assigned nurse he took time to come by and visit with me. That act of kindness showed his deep concern for his patients. That is something I will never forget.
One evening when my family was leaving nurse Bretton approached them and reassured them I was making good progress then he wrote down he nurse's stations phone number so they could reach him if they wanted to check on me. That act of kindness eased the stress of a very challenging time for my family. It is the professionalism and concern for the patient and family that touched us dearly.

Bretton is a really nice nurse, since he came in we felt more comfortable. He has excellent communication skills, especially when it comes to speaking and listening. My father's English is so bad but the thing that got my attention was that Bretton tried to understand what he is explaining with his poor English. He would love to help, and ask if everything is ok or if we want anything every time he is in the room. He is always on time, not even one minute late. He is really nice and helpful. In our opinion, when a nurse treats a patient and the family the way Bretton did, he will show how aware the staff and the hospital is. We would like to thank the whole staff for everything and especially Bretton Athrens.
