Brenda walked into my little room and it was like a wind of happiness and calm entered the room.
I wanted to take the time to showcase one of your remarkable nurses, Brenda Breckner. I had the pleasure of being her patient during my time in the ED.
I find that people, in general, find it so easy to complain about anything and everything, yet when good things happen, we almost expect them to and don't acknowledge them or offer our sincere gratitude. That's exactly why I'm writing this letter to you. I think we can all agree that 2020 was one heck of a year, but there was still so much good.
Brenda was my nurse in the ED on that horrific day that I wound up there with complications from COVID. I was anxious, terrified, stressed, worried about my small children and husband back home, uncertain and weary, and just in a bad place. I had no idea what to expect with this pandemic going on.
Brenda walked into my little room and it was like a wind of happiness and calm entered the room. She knew that I was upset and immediately said to me, "I'm going to pamper you and take care of you and you're going to be just fine." I'll never forget it. I instantly calmed down and felt safe and knew that everything was going to be okay. She was so incredibly kind and compassionate towards me. She was also gentle and understanding. My blood pressure that was sky-high dropped right down to normal after being in her care because I knew that I was in good hands.
I truly will never forget this nurse. What an amazing asset she is to your organization. She is doing exactly what God intended her to do. I just wanted YOU to know because I think it's important that she is recognized for something that comes so naturally to her. She has no idea how she touched my life that day.
