Brenda Brafford is one of the outstanding nurses of the CCU. She is compassionate, perceptive, and thorough. We had a 23-year-old cardiac arrest come to the unit. He went through the hypothermia protocol and all measures were taken to preserve brain function and quality of life. During this difficult time, Brenda was an outspoken advocate for the patient and his family. In the end, the family decided to make him a GOL donor. Once Brenda found out she came in on her day off to sit with the family during this courageous yet difficult time. She sat with them, held their hands and cried with them. The family was so appreciative and adopted her into their circle. Her dedication is a true example of patient and family-centered care. Brenda is the epitome of nursing care and compassion and a true DAISY Nurse.
