A great example of team work, collaboration and compassionate caring took place on the MSICU unit on which I work, which is what the DAISY Team Award is all about. This Team works tirelessly to provide the best care possible all of the time. I was once a flex ACP and have had the chance to see units across our health system and can say with certainty I work on one of the absolute best units in the Baptist Health System. One example of this occurred when a patient needed to be transferred to a hospital in Miami for a possible transplant. Due to financial, insurance and weather issues, the patient could not be flown to Miami. Through much effort on a Saturday afternoon, the patient had been approved to be transferred to Miami via ambulance. At the last minute, we found out that an RN would have to go to Miami with the patient. Though this had never been done on this scale with a patient who was so very sick, the management team was able to make it possible for the RN to ride with the patient to Miami to give him the best possible chance to survive. Though this was a critical and complex situation everyone worked expediently and tirelessly to go above and beyond the usual to do what was best for the patient.

Tower 4A nursing staff is dedicated to all aspects of patient care and going the extra mile. I have witnessed the compassion and empathy each team member has first-hand and would trust them with my personal care. They work well with one another and despite being in one of the oldest units in the hospital, patient care is not affected.

Tower 4A- MSICU is the BEST team at Baptist. MSICU team members work together on a daily basis to provide excellent care to some of the sickest patients in the hospital. MSICU team members work side by side through all types of stressful situations, providing excellent service to our patients. We support each other, depend on each other and educate each other every day. We remain calm in the most stressful of situations and everyone works together to provide positive outcomes to our patients. Tower 4A is constantly being utilized to float throughout the hospital and our staff can take care of any patient in the hospital. Our team works together and we depend on each other. We are a family that knows we will always support each other. I am honored to work on such an amazing unit and personally would not want to work anywhere else. I am proud to say I am an ICU nurse; however, I am more proud to say I am a Tower 4A-MSICU nurse.

Tower 4A-MSICU is the best place to work in the hospital. We take care of the sickest patients; make the most of our surroundings. We float throughout the hospital on a regular basis and our team is responsible for advanced training (CRRT/hypothermia) throughout the hospital. We learn every day and use our training to save lives. Our infection rate is one of the lowest in the hospital. We stay on top of our cauti/clabsi protocols and we work daily to provide the best possible care to every patient on our unit. The best word to describe this unit is TEAMWORK.

MSICU is the best unit at Baptist. We take care of the sickest patients and work together every day to provide excellent care to our patients. We are in the business of saving lives and take great pride in our efforts. We work together as a team every day and I am proud to work for MSICU.

I am an ANM on Tower 4A-MSICU and I am so proud to work on this unit. The team members work so closely with each other and the auxiliary staff to provide the best care possible to all patients we see. We do our best every day to grow and learn and to work together as a team. We see miracles happen on a daily basis and we are so fortunate to have a small part in the miracle of life.

I work with some of the best people at Baptist. I learn every day and everyone is always willing to step up and teach me how to become a better nurse. I started August 2017 and I have learned so much from the people around me. I love being able to work alongside my team on Tower 4A, helping people and truly making a difference in the lives of our patients.

I am so proud to work for Tower 4A-MSICU. The staff from the CNAs, the nurses, the nurse practitioners, and the critical care doctors work together seamlessly to create an environment for learning, growing and providing the best care possible to the sickest patients in the hospital. My time in the MSICU has made me realize I want to grow in my career and ultimately become a nurse practitioner for the critical care group I have come to respect so much.

On more than one occasion we've had several emergencies in the hospital all at once and this team, whether short staffed or tired, handled it and didn't allow the other patients in the unit to suffer. They support other areas of the hospital, whether it is with emergencies or putting in lines, and do so without complaint. When someone codes, tower 4 shows up but when someone codes in tower 4 there's no one else to send but that's ok because they are a well-oiled, life-saving machine full of caring nursing providers committed to Baptist's success and vision.

I have the honor of working with a team that exemplifies the true meaning of teamwork. We at times have had 2 codes going on at the same time and everyone works together to achieve the best outcomes for our patients. Our team works hard dealing with some of the sickest patients in the hospital and has had the experience of witnessing recoveries when the odds were low, as well as death sometimes a few times a shift. Our members support each other through trying times whether it is patient-related or families of patients who may be experiencing the worst moments of their lives. We leave here at the end of our shift exhausted, but we make a difference every day in the lives of all we serve. I want to acknowledge and celebrate each member of the MSICU team.

The MSICU is the definition, embodiment, of teamwork and that is one thing that hasn't changed in at least ten years. (I left and came back.) Caryn is their fearless, courageous, KIND, CARING nurse leader. (When I left 2009 she was the ANM and now upon my return, she is the Manager.) This team consists of newer employees and folks who have been here for thirty years and that's saying something. The patients in this ICU receive top notch quality care from a group with a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge. Thank you for the privilege of working with this extraordinary group in an extraordinary environment.

My team MSICU, we are getting a variety of patients, but whatever the patient problem is, we are always putting them on the best situation they can have. Our team members make sure that every patient and family member received TLC while honoring their wishes and choices.
***
MSICU team has been exceptional with all their caring, attending all needs of patients with a holistic approach. T4A is a strongly recognized unit throughout Baptist Hospital. They perform well both clinically and emotionally in the face of some of the highest acuity in the system. Further considerations include their willingness to adapt to any situation in which they encounter without breaching the care of their patients both physiologically and emotionally. The spirit carried out through T4A and its staff members is a strong reflection of the Baptist core values and the standards to which all nursing organizations aspire.
***
Exceptional teamwork. Low infection rates due to teamwork, focusing on good outcomes for all. Team members care for each other and for the patients.
***
We have the best unit at the hospital. We work together as a team every day saving lives. We depend on each other on a daily basis and I am grateful to work with such amazing people.
***
Tower 4A-MSICU has so many amazing stories that to narrow it down to just one would be impossible. We have an amazing staff that works tirelessly every day providing quality care to all of our patients. Our unit is full of sick people and we are their last resort; we take great pride in knowing we are the patients' last chance of survival. We take our roles very seriously and there is nothing better than watching someone 'turn the corner' and seeing the positive outcome we have played a part in. We love having patients come back to the unit and visit us, thanking us for all we did to save their life. Most of the time the patients don't remember us, but their families do, and they come back full of gratitude for giving their loved one a second chance at life. There is nowhere else I would rather work and there is no other team I would rather work alongside.

We love our T4A team!
