Nurse: Beverly Bernad, NSU LAMC – Kaiser

My silly belly dancing accident led me to Kaiser Sunset Facility. The second day I was there, a sweet nurse walked in with a lovely smile I have ever seen. We talked and ended up crying out telling her the story of my life & how frightened I was of my upcoming MRI that afternoon. My kids and my friends couldn’t take time off to be with me and my husband were having problems, I was feeling very lonely and abandoned but Beverly just gave me a hug and a look that said “don’t worry, I’ll take care of you”

When they wheeled the gurney into my room, there was Beverly to help me on the gurney because I was in tremendous pain and even though she hadn’t planned to, she was walking with me, laughing, making me laugh and holding my hand. I can’t begin to tell you how much this meant to me … I had been in excruciating pain for six weeks, my husband and I had been fighting during that entire time and I was feeling so completely down I didn’t know which end was up! At that moment Beverly became my friend and a member of my family.

Since then, my self worth has returned a little more every day as Beverly makes me feel just great. My confidence is returning and I am so much more “myself” than I have been in a long, long time.

Not only has this wonderful nurse done so much for me in my short stay here but I see her give so much to many others here … not only by listening and being loving and thoughtful but her nursing skills are amazing!

Almost all the nurses here are terrific but this one is truly truly special! No matter how busy she is, I can look at her and almost always see – Beverly’s Smile!
