Betsy has been a nurse for many years and has been with hospice for several months now. She has done a fantastic job with every patient she has encountered, but in December she was handed an especially hard case. She was appointed RN case manager for a 4-month-old infant. Betsy went to the home of our baby boy patient every single weekday and made herself available every weekend for him as well. She gained a rapport with his family helped to arrange help for his two older siblings when needs arose for them and even spent some time watching over baby boy in his home so that mom could take a break. When he outgrew his bassinette, she helped arrange and set up a crib for him. When he became unresponsive at his home and his family rushed him to SGMC she rushed to be by their sides. Unfortunately, he did pass away there and Betsy was with the patient and family during this time. She stayed with them afterward to emotionally support them as well.
I felt that Betsy deserved special recognition for how hard she worked with this family and how much she helped them during the most difficult time of their lives. She made her tiny patient feel comfortable and loved she made his siblings and family feel special and she is truly an honor to work alongside. Thank you, Betsy, for the amazing work you do every day but for this case specifically and all of the hard work that you put into this baby boy and his family.
