Becky Ramer is a dedicated nurse who has been with our organization for 20 years. Of these, 18 have been spent in mentoring or leadership roles such as preceptor, Relief Patient Care Coordinator (PCC), and PCC. She is passionate about nursing and committed to making a difference in the lives of others. She excels beyond what is expected and brings collegial insight and inspiration to even the most difficult tasks. It is easy to describe her as a role model for her peers, physicians, and other disciplines. Becky is empathetic, innovative, encouraging, and resourceful. She upholds the integrity of humanity, nursing as a profession, our organization, and the community. She is respectful, collaborative, organized and only has five absences during her 20-year career. Becky continuously shows her colleagues what it means to feel supported. She stays late and facilitates interdisciplinary huddles to help with patient care and throughput. Her sincere words of encouragement and praise are appreciated traits. She is an integral part of the department and organization. Becky is an expert in engagement and relationship building. Her colleagues follow her example and deliver quality and evidence-based care to their patients.
Over the years, she has been selected to participate in various internal focus groups to help improve patient experience and nurse quality of care. Her efforts have led a redesign of the stroke triage process which assisted in gaining our Stroke accreditation. She has taken the lead role in bringing standardization across the ED in many lean and best-practice initiatives. All of these help us to better serve our patients and community.
Ms. Ramer is a selfless, visionary nurse and compassionate advocate. She rallies hospital resources to expedite care. Her patients describe her care as if the red carpet has been rolled out and that they are her only priority. She embodies patient-centered care. She recognizes the importance of end-of-life interactions and facilitates the family being at the bedside during resuscitation efforts. The family becomes a part of our efforts and is given the ability to say final words, provide expressions of love, and share their final moments of life.
She has provided immeasurable service to the community with tireless energy over the years. She is a key member of the Emergency Preparedness Team and works closely with STRAC. She worked for 10 days with the recovery efforts for Hurricane Harvey. Her local Volunteer Fire Department depends on her fundraising events and she enjoys working the phone banks for MDA and other causes. She even assists in spaying/neutering feral cats! Becky is dedicated to caring for our most fragile and vulnerable community members. She strives for excellence and creates a climate of continuous process improvement.
She is a nurse of high moral value who influences those around her with compassion, intelligence, and leadership. Her commitment to professionalism and our community is what Makes her a DAISY Nurse. Becky, thank you for all you do, every day, to make a difference in the lives of our patients and peers. You are an integral part of our Emergency Department and our health system. You deserve this recognition although you are too humble to admit it. It is an honor to work with you!
