Ashley took care of an infant that was transferred to UMC from another hospital with a diagnosis of skull fracture. DHS was called and it was assumed to be caused by parent neglience or abuse. Ashley passed no judgment on parent and assured her that we were not passing judgment on her and that all unexplained injuries in non-ambulatory cases were scrutinzed by DHS so that no child would be injured and nothing done about it. After x-rays and CT's at our hospital it was determined there was no fracture and parent was cleared. She later sent a letter thanking Ashley for the care she provided. Ashley has also spearheaded getting other nurses to combine funds to buy shoes for needy housekeeper who's shoes she wore to work everyday had holes in them. Ashley has also taken a leading role in raising money and buying clothes and setting up a nursery for one of our co-workers who has been on bedrest for months then due to complications had pre-term c-section emergently. The baby was born at 33 weeks and 2 lbs. 13 oz. The mom/co-worker stated that the stress was reduced significantly by the contributions and efforts that Ashley was involved in. In addition to Ashley's compassion she also has the clinical tools she needs to provide exceptional care. Ashley has CPEN-certified pediatric emergency nurse credentials and has plans to further her education in the future. I believe she represents the nursing profession well and deserves to be awarded the Daisy Award. Mike Boyanton I wanted to thank the ER staff, doctors, and nurses who took such wonderful care of my baby. On 1/7/10 we were transferred from Vicksburg with a possible skull fracture. As you can imagine it was very scary. I was reassured by the fact that I was going to the best children's hospital in the state. I was not disappointed. My expectations were met and I expected the best and that is what I got. Lauren Clanton is a triplet and I had the babies at UMC in the NICU and again I was pleased with the service. I just wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work. Thanks again, Becky Clanton To everyone in the Pediatric ER: Thank you so much for being there for us during such a special time. I truly appreciate all the hard work, and generiosity you put into helping us prepare for Sophia Claire. I am so thankful to have such wonderful friends. You really took alot of stress off of us. I cannot wait for everyone to meet her. Thanks again, Jamie, Kirk and Sophia Claire
