Today I was asked to visit a patient asking for a manager. We all cringe a little when we get that request, but this one was different.
I walked into the room and there lay a woman sunken into her bed with her family at the bedside. She was told that she needed a heart cath. For clinicians, this is a very common procedure, but for our patient, this news made her very nervous, anxious and scared all at once.
She asked to speak to a manager to express her appreciation and gratitude for the actions of Nurse Arezoo!
With all of these emotions running through her mind, Arezoo did the one thing that she will never forget. Arezoo pulled up a chair and simply held her hand.
She recognized how busy our nurses are, but wanted to make sure that I knew how amazing her nurse was to stop in her busy morning to simply sit down and show her that she matters. By doing a simple gesture like holding her hand, it made her feel cared for, safe and that she was in good hands.
This is exactly what being a nurse is! Arezoo, thank you for taking care of our S!
