I met Anthony when he was my nurse when I was admitted to the ICU with a possible heart attack. Each time he entered my room he had a huge smile on his face. He was so helpful and patient as he helped me through my first days. He never seemed rushed or too busy to ask how I was feeling. He shared a little of his life with me and each time he did it, it helped me to feel less afraid and more comfortable around him. On my second day in the ICU Anthony walked in with a quilt and a teddy bear for me! I could not believe I was given such a thoughtful gift.
As it turned out I was diagnosed with a "Broken Heart Syndrome" and when Anthony laid the quilt on my bed, my heartfelt hugged and a little less broken. My journey ahead is not back home but instead to a facility to help severely anorexic patients. Throughout my journey I'll bring my quilt and my bear and each time I feel frightened or alone, I'll wrap myself in the quilt, hold my bear and remember Anthony and his kind spirit and this wonderful gift.
