I wanted to take this time to recognize a special person by the name of Annabelle Hernandez. This individual went beyond her ability to make me feel so comfortable. I came in for an eventful, tragic nightmare, and Annabelle made me feel alive.
Annabelle came into the room and introduced herself. She told me she would be admitting me and the primary nurse would follow through later. She apologized if I had waited at any time, but that I was in great hands and she was correct. Annabelle went on with the admission and asked how I was doing emotionally and I broke down and started to cry. She instantly hugged me and consoled me. She went on to ask if anyone was with me, and I said yes, my husband and son were with me. She called for someone and in an instant, they were there. In all my emotions I never realized that she had also spoken to my husband and son about the situation and calmed them.
I could see Annabelle was a busy person as I could hear her name being murmured by nurses, but she always seemed calm and collected. Annabelle brought me and my family a memory box and explained the items, no one ever wants to come to realize that you will be delivering a lost baby. She prayed with me and my family before I was handed under the care of another nurse. Annabelle stayed on my mind. I didn't realize that she was the director of the unit. I was shocked to know that she would also take patients.
The astonishing part came two days later when I wanted my pictures of my baby so I was transferred to Annabelle's line. She answered and stated to come by and that pictures would be ready for me. I did not know that Annabelle was who I was speaking with. I came to the hospital at 8 pm and she was not there. I called and she answered, again me not knowing who I was speaking to. She apologized and asked where I lived and I told her where. She said how about I meet you half way and I will bring the pictures to you since you came to the hospital and the pictures were not available. I thought to myself that is going beyond what is normal.
The following day, Annabelle met me. I was anxiously waiting and to my surprise, it was Annabelle. We had an emotional encounter, we hugged, cried, but I felt whole again to have my babies pictures. I asked her if she did this all the time, she smiled and said, "Sometimes in life, you have to do the right things." Annabelle became an angel in my life.
