I would like to personally thank my nurse, Anna Murray, for being a great caregiver for my mom and me. Normally I care for my mom with my sister, but my sister was out of town. I thought that I was doing okay in balancing the time at the hospital and single-parent life, but apparently, I was not.
After visiting my mom, I left for my daughter's play. During the play I got, "I'm lonely," and "When are you coming back?" messages from my mom. I told my mom that I would be back around 5:30 PM. My mom replied, "I don't know if you'll see me alive." Needless to say, I freaked out. I tried calling mom, but she did not answer. I called the nurse's station and talked to Anna.
The first thing she said is, "Your mom is fine," and then she listened and let me get everything out. I probably sounded like a crazy person, talking too fast, but Anna let me go and just listened as I became calmer. When I arrived at the hospital, she took the time to have a side conversation with me and gave me absolute comfort that mom was in good hands, and I did not need to jump and run each time mom sends a distress message.
